Guidelines for Making and Donating Items

v      Hats and scarves should be made in matching (or coordinating) sets.  This will ensure that everyone we reach will receive both items, and that they will go together.  The only exception to this is infants, who receive hats only.  Don’t worry – both items are VERY easy to make!  You can also team up with someone else to make a set together.

v      You are not required to follow the patters we provide.  However, we ask that you follow the KISS rule: Keep It Simple Sister!  Simple patterns are able to be completed more quickly.  Also, we want everyone who receives a set to receive essentially the same thing, so that one does not seem “better than” another.

v      For this reason we also ask that you use 100% acrylic worsted weight yarn.  We recommend Red Heart Super Savers.  This also ensures that items are machine washable and hypo-allergenic.  You are welcome to use whatever color you wish.  We need a good mix of “male” and “female” colors.  It is best to avoid yarns that are marked "extra soft" because they are harder to launder.

v      Our goal is to deliver our items by the end of October.  Don’t let this stress you out!  Work at your own pace.

v      As you are working, we recommend that you pray for the person who will be receiving your items, and the ministry that will be distributing it.
